Georgia(ns) - Ratcha, the land of our Christmas trees

Every year in Europe, in December, around 50 millions of Nordmann Christmas trees are sold. And every year three months before, in Georgia, in the forests of Ratcha men and women climb up majestic fir trees whose height can reach fifty meters to harvest the pine cones from which will be extracted the seeds which will give birth ten years later to our fir trees. A hard work, well paid for local standards, ridiculously given the selling price in Europe. Report in Tlughi, Ratcha region, where the best seeds of the world are harvested.

This project was carried with the support of Journalismfund.eu (www.journalismfund.eu).
